Sands in My Palm

In memory of all the children who are persecuted in the world…

sands in my palm
stars in the sky
I have blood in my eye
What sun rises on this roof

If I shake, the world stops
If they shake it, my world will dry up
They shake the worlds disappear
Which sun rises on this earth

sands in my palm
children by the roof
Eyes look into the distances
What sun rises on this roof

Even our bird is crying
I even said the ant is looking for a nest
The sky is clearing and the stars are falling
Which sun takes the stars

sands in my palm
people by the fountain
Looking for a sip of water
What sun rises on this roof

sands in my palm
I held on tight, they’d fall apart if I let go
I spilled it, it got wet on the ground where it doesn’t belong
Which sun weeps over these sands

sands in my palm
If I spill it on the face of the unaware
Am I tall enough?
What sun embraces this little body

sands in my palm
A little red, a little foreign here
My house is four walls before it collapses
Which sun rises in this house
